Q: What is the difference between Singing lessons & Vocal Coaching?
A: In Singing Lessons, the focus will be on developing your breath control, tone, range & potentially songs for Singing exams. Vocal coaching is different as you may already have some experience in singing, however you will have specific songs you wish to work on for your repertoire. You may have an upcoming audition which you need to prepare a song for, in this scenario we would look at Acting – through – song and the songs intention, helping you express your interpretation of the song through you voice and performance. Or you may purely want to sing AND everyone can sing!
Q: How do I pay?
A: When you decide you want lessons, a contract will be sent to you with further details, including payment. Please note, there are Terms & Conditions in the Contract which need to be agreed before our lessons start.
Q: If I am ill, should I still come to my lesson?
A: Please do not come to your lesson if you are poorly. Information about how these lessons will be made up will be displayed in your contract.
Q: What is Musicianship?
A: These lessons will be to support general musicianship. The lessons could range from musical activities looking at pulse, pitch & rhythm or learning music theory for exams. These lessons will be bespoke to the student & content / focus would be agreed before lessons start.
Q: “I’m really nervous…”
A: This is totally understandable and very usual before starting lessons. In your trial lesson we will discuss my approach and what you would like from the lessons. Along with a person-centred approach, I will use my supportive & kind manner to help your self-esteem & confidence develop. I have vast experience working with people with SEN / ALN and can teach using Makaton signing (Level 4) to support communication & processing if requested.
Q: How much do trial lessons cost?
A: Trial lessons are the cost of 1 lesson. I am still establishing my business and my time is my income. Thank you for your understanding with this.
Q: Where will the lessons be?
A: Unless otherwise agreed, I teach from my home near the beautiful village of Holt, on the border of Cheshire & Wrexham county. Peripatetic lessons may be offered. Please do get in touch for more information to discuss whether lessons at your home would be viable and practical.
Q: Why do you charge £40.00 for 2 x 30minute lessons for 2 individuals in the same household and not £35.00?
A: This is a valid question. It takes time to plan individual lessons and each lesson has a bespoke, person centred approach. When teaching 2 individuals in the same household I ask for the 30minute fee for each student, rather than the cost of 1 individual 60minute lesson.
